Include the app version, iOS, iPadOS or macOS version, router model, firmware version and the message you see. Never send router passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, SIM secrets or full configurations.
Before you begin
Mudi7 Remote 1.4 is available on the App Store. The US price is $19.99, paid once, with no subscription or in-app purchases. Mainland China and France are not available for purchase.
You need your own GL.iNet Mudi 7 (GL-E5800, GL-E5800NA or GL-E5800EU) and iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later. Earlier Mudi and Mudi V2 models are outside the supported range. NA and EU model recognition is included, but both regional variants have not yet been fully tested on physical hardware. Device-setting controls currently target compatible firmware 4.10. Features depend on the actual router configuration; unconfirmed models remain read-only.

Native Mac edition
The macOS 14+ edition is being prepared for App Store review and is not yet publicly available. Connect the Mac to your Mudi 7 Wi-Fi, then enter the router administrator/SSH credentials in the app. Mac pairing is separate from iPhone and is not synced through iCloud. Use Settings in the sidebar or Command-comma. Automatic refresh pauses when the app is inactive, hidden, minimized or the Mac sleeps. This edition has no desktop widget or camera scanner; use file import for VPN configurations. If Local Network access is denied, check macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network where available.
Connect for the first time
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to the Mudi 7's Wi-Fi network.
- Open Mudi7 Remote and allow Local Network access when iOS asks.
- Enter your router administrator password, then select Connect & Remember. If your SSH credentials, local address or port differ from the defaults, open Advanced.
- After successful login, check Device for router status. OpenClash controls are available when OpenClash is already installed and configured on the router.
After pairing, the app remembers the verified login in this device's Keychain. Automatic connection runs while the app is active; it is not remote access from another network.
When something does not connect
Local Network permission was denied
In iOS or iPadOS Settings, find Mudi7 Remote's Local Network permission and enable it. Return to the app and reconnect. You still need to be on the router's local Wi-Fi network.
The router cannot be reached
Confirm the router is powered on and you are connected to its Wi-Fi. Check its local address and SSH port in Advanced. The app supports local numeric IPv4 addresses on the same Wi-Fi subnet; public addresses, hostnames and access from other networks are not supported.
The password is rejected
Use the router's administrator/SSH credentials, not the Wi-Fi network password. If you changed those credentials, use Settings → Forget Router and connect again with the new details.
The saved router identity has changed
Check that you are connecting to your own router. A factory reset or firmware change can change its SSH identity. Only after verifying the device, use Forget Router and pair again. The app does not silently trust a changed identity.
I see old readings or “Last read”
Those are previously retrieved values. Reconnect and refresh to read current status. A lost connection does not mean that a setting already sent to the router was rolled back; check the router before repeating a change.
OpenClash and Nodes
The app controls an existing installation. It does not install OpenClash, import subscriptions, supply proxy nodes or provide a VPN service. If controls are unavailable, check that OpenClash is installed and configured on the router.
Rule uses your existing rules, Global uses the configured global selection, and Direct selects direct mode. Nodes lets you choose within existing groups. Dragging a group changes only the app's display order.
What is new in the development preview?
The completed 1.4 preview adds Device network tools and router VPN controls, plus OpenClash connection snapshots, provider collections, rules search and local selection presets. These are preview features; complete physical-router traffic validation of the new write actions is still pending.

A tool says it is unavailable
Some controls require compatible firmware or installed components. Usage History needs router-side history support; Ad Filtering needs an available AdGuard service. An unavailable tool does not mean the app installed or enabled that component.
Is a configuration backup a complete router backup?
No. Device → Device Tools → Backup & Restore saves encrypted configuration archives locally. Check the included-file list: it may omit OpenClash downloads or provider files. Restoration is restricted to the same paired device and compatible firmware, and needs a reachable router.
Does closing a connection block a website?
No. Connections closes the confirmed connection IDs. A device can establish another connection; persistent custom rule editing is not included.
Common questions
Can I control it without internet?
Local router control does not require internet, but Wi-Fi access to the router is required. Internet browsing and proxy traffic through the router require their own network connection.
Does the usage number show my remaining data?
No. It is a router-reported counter. If the router does not provide a period, the app says the period is unknown. Check your carrier for billing and remaining allowance.
How do I change the appearance?
Open Settings → Appearance and select Follow System, Light or Dark. The app remembers your selection.
How do I remove my saved login?
Choose Settings → Forget Router. This deletes the saved pairing and password, but does not reset or change the router. Use this action before uninstalling if you want to explicitly remove Keychain credentials.
What if I need purchase or refund help ?
Apple handles App Store payments. Use Apple's purchase support for eligible purchase or refund requests; approval is determined by Apple. Contact us for app issues.
Version 1.5 trends and events
Version 1.4 is available on the App Store. The upcoming 1.5 update adds observed trends and local network events. Neither is continuous background monitoring. Read the trends, events and diagnosis guide for collection, retention and external-check details.
Refresh and reading age
In Settings → Refresh, choose Automatic · While Open or Manual. Automatic intervals are 10, 30, 60 or 120 seconds; 30 seconds is the default. Frequent reads may use more router battery. Automatic reads stop when the app is inactive or in the background and pause during editing. Widgets show the last reading. Manual mode keeps initial reads, explicit refresh and verification after a requested change.
